I bought a four years maintenance contract from Godrej for a split AC in Jun 2012 for which I paid Rs 5076/. I issued a check and was verbally told that all functional parts and Gas filling will be covered. The person promised to send the contract papers by post which he did not send. On my complaint through E Mail, the GOdrej Appliance Manager, wrote an apology letter giving an extended warranty of 4 years and one month on the lines of original warranty. Here also, no other papers were sent thus giving me an impression that all items are covered in the contract.
The gas of my Split AC leaked in September. On my complaint, the Gas was filled but it the problem of poor cooling remained. When I complained again, the Godrej representative, told me that I have to pay Rs 6000/ for replacement of Cooling Coils which are not covered in the Maintenance Contract.
This means that the Godrej deliberately avoided to give me the terms and conditions of contract which I am unaware so far. The made me pay Rs 5076/ for a contract of 4 years by making false verbal promises. I am not aware what all is covered in the original warranty. To the best of my knowledge every thing is covered in the original warranty.
Further, I have called a private AC expert who has told that the Cooling Coils are easily reparable for which he will charge me Rs 650/ However, Godrej is exploiting the situation by telling me that if I get the repairs from outside, they will not give warranty of Gas filling. For the last two months they have stopped giving me any service. I dont understand what is Gas Filling contract benefit if the leak is not removed by them. And can a reputed company cheat customers like this.
